First-Person 3D Horror Game

Solo Development, Digital Art, 3D Models, UI and Sound
With my focus on becoming a Game Level Designer, this is an expansion on my first game (TheDepthsBelow) with a number of developed areas.
It is a return to the retro/VHS style graphics, with key improvements
- There are 13 scenes in the game within a richer structure
- Improved guided navigation of the player
- More features including an inventory system with improved interactivity and a greater array of items.
- And the enemy now stalks you!!

2D Action-Adventure Game

Solo Development, Digital Art, 2D Sprites, UI and Sound
I created a short game in the Action-Adventure genre. The project is a 2D action game set in the fantastical kingdom of Thrymskald. In this kingdom, monsters roam and threaten the lives of the inhabitants who live there. The player plays as Arik The Knight, who is known by everyone for his tenacity and strength. It is up to them to free the kingdom of Thrymskald from those who impose it. IceBreaker captures familiar action-adventure elements within a simple 2D structure, designed for excitement, versatility and replay ability.

My focus was primarily on the gameplay and the player experience. I wanted to create a pixel art game as I found that games with these graphics, including the nostalgic and simplistic visuals , are more exciting to play as they offer more interactability and accessibility.

First-Person 3D Horror Game
Solo Development, Digital Art, 3D Models, UI and Sound
For my final major project at Brighton MET, I created a short game in the Phantasmagoria genre. The project is a survival stealth horror game set in an abandoned mineshaft, inspired by early 1999/2000 retro style video game graphics with a modern twist. The Depths Below captures familiar phantasmagoric elements within a unique structure, designed for exploration, versatility and replay ability.

My focus was primarily on the gameplay and the player experience. I wanted to create low-poly visuals as I found that games with these retro graphics, including the jittering, distorted visuals, are more scary and haunting as the environment is unrecognisable and lacks of any sense of familiarity. I was awarded a Distinction for this project.

2D Fighting Game

Digital Art
This project was to make a unique mod. I chose to make a Cyberpunk mod of Streets of Rage 2X.
In this project, I wanted to demonstrate my pixel art ability as well as developing my understanding of basic animation in retro videogames.
I chose Cyberpunk because I enjoyed playing the videogame and the futuristic style, culture and atmosphere were very appealing.
The goal of this project was to capture well known elements from the Cyberpunk world including: bright neon lights, muted colour schemes, dirty, unkempt streets and a heavy japanese influence, and incorporate these into my redesign of the vanilla map and characters.
The changes I would be making to the original game would be:
-
The world’s environment and colour scheme
-
Redesign Axel, the hero
-
Redesign Donovan, one of the enemies

3D Modelling

3D Modelling in Blender
In this project I was asked to create a reskin of a character from an existing IP.
I created a high-poly rendition of a Clicker from the ‘The Last of Us’ game series. The reason for choosing ‘The Last of Us’ was because it is my favourite game and I thought it would be a fun challenge to see if I could accurately the look of one on my own.
To make this, I used Blender while working closely with the anatomy of a human skull as well as the head of a clicker to get the correct shape and overall sizing. I have always been interested in low-poly design due to its unique shapes and textures. It delivers a creepy aesthetic which is also at times, incredibly abstract.
